At HackerRank, we are on a mission to change the world to value skills over pedigree. As a Software Development Engineer Intern, you will join our high-performing, mission-driven team to build impactful features that help millions of developers learn, get hired, and grow their careers. This is a full-time, 6-month onsite internship (Jan–June 2026) in Bangalore where interns are treated as full members of the engineering team, working on production code and collaborating across product, design, and QA.

Responsibilities

• Own full-stack features end-to-end, from ideation to production launch
• Reduce latency, improve reliability, and optimize systems for scale
• Prototype, experiment, and iterate rapidly with measurable results
• Continuously push improvements across the platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in planning, specs, and reviews

Qualifications

• Solid foundations in data structures and algorithms
• Fluent in at least one modern programming language
• Understanding of APIs, web services, and databases
• Strong communication and collaborative problem-solving skills
• Commitment to writing clean, maintainable code
• Preferred: Open-source contributions, side projects, or hackathon wins
• Preferred: Exposure to AI/ML tools, performance tuning, or prior internships
